For an expectant mother, receiving a gift basket filled with essentials for the coming baby is such a delight and a relief, especially if it is the first child. Opening a gift basket that contain anything from soft towels, to a piece or two of baby clothes, or even if it is an inexpensive kit which holds all the essentials for a baby is much appreciated.
There are ready made gift baskets of course, ready to be picked and given to a grateful recipient. Buying is the easiest avenue especially for someone who is busy. Prices can range from as low as $40 dollars to several hundred dollars, depending on where it was bought and what is inside it.
Choose a specific theme for a gift basket: bathing kit, eating kit, toiletries, even bathroom goodies such as bubble baths, shampoos, and soft towels. With a specific theme in mind, it is easier to collect the items together and make into a set if there are none readily made. Wrap the kits with something that does not get thrown away but with something which the parents could use for the baby as well.
Off Hour Snacks – new parents will quickly learn that the baby will take up a lot of the time in the space of a night and sometimes it can be tiring that preparing a sandwich or a meal can be a real effort. Why not send a basket filled with goodies that when assembled can become a great sandwich. Load the basket with everything in it: bread, bread board, spreads cold cuts, veggies, and cheeses. Wrap in simple clear plastic so they won’t have to think twice about denying temptation and simply accessorize it with an attractive easy to release lock or tie. Try something attractive like a ribbon which could be used for the baby’s hair in the future with a teether tied to it.
Break the Fast, Fast – breakfast time is no longer what it will be once the baby arrives. Gather some great filling breakfast goodies like ready to eat muesli, a carton or two of Vit D milk good for the nursing mother, some dried apricots or peaches or even some Crannies which can revive the sleepy parent and a good selection of teas and cocoas, no coffee for the nursing mother! Breakfast can be a snap if all are in one basket and the head is still groggy from the lack of sleep.
Simply for the Mother - these baby shower baskets can be a lift to the emotions of the expectant mother. Why not give the mother something which she could use as a new mother like nursing pads or a great nursing blouse or even some nursing essentials which would have been overlooked during the planning of the birth. The mother would not get stressed out when visitors come to see the baby for the first time because she had a readily available supply to turn to.
Baby Toiletries – collect an array of baby toiletries which are known safe for the skin of the baby. Go for toiletries with no fragrances or talc that are bad for the health, choose the all natural spa products that will make the baby more relaxed and happy when bath time comes. Wrap this in a nice fluffy towel folded and shaped like a baby cake or stuffed toy. When this is first received, some parent simply could stare in wonder at why a towel cake could look so appetizing.
