Is it possible to have stress free baby shower planning? Definitely yes, especially if there are a lot of friends who are willing to work out a shower for a friend who is expecting a baby.
First thing to do is to contact all the friends in the gang, those whom the pregnant mother is close too. If there are four of you in the gang, then the three of you could surprise the mommy-to-be with a baby shower that will be easy to plan.
Second, once the gang has decided that you are all going to throw a baby shower, make a checklist. This way, everything that needs to be done will be taken into consideration and the tasks on the list can be divided equally among the friends.
Third, make a decision as to where the venue is to be held. It would be more relaxing for everybody if a favorite hangout is chosen. This makes it more personal for everyone. If it is a home of a friend, then make sure that the homeowner has less to do the day prior to the party for preparations have to be made in the house to make it ready for the big event.
Fourth, make a decision if the guys are going to be included. The inclusion of the daddy to be without his male friends will make the whole thing ridiculous, so if the daddy to be is going to be there, make sure that the other men of the group are also there. Fifth, decide on a theme. You should all know by now who and what your friend is. What is her favorite thing and start from there. The theme will set the mood of the party. So if the mommy to be and her husband love dancing with the gang, then have a dancing party. Again, the theme which sets the mood of the party will have a large impact on the food and beverages.
Sixth, decide on a group present rather than individual presents given to the expecting mommy. A group present makes more room for more presents that could be in the form of a trunk filled with all the baby essentials.
Seventh, make a decision when the party is going to be thrown. If you make a lot of preparations and the date is two days from the day of planning, that will not work. Give yourselves at least two weeks to make plans and adjustments.
Eighth, delegate the tasks to each member and make sure that all of you check each other out if things are right on track or someone may need help. Contact each other using the Blackberry, email, cell phones, and landlines. These are the only ways to connect to each other and to help each other out in tight spots.
Ninth, just before the day of the party, everything should be in place. Help out to make final arrangements and to decorate the venue.
Tenth, kidnap the mother and father to be and give them the time of their lives just before they experience the sleepless nights of baby feeding and raising.
