There are baby showers that the public can see on television and read exclusively on sponsoring weekly magazines, but Gwen Stefani and Brook Shields decided against that and instead opted for a private affair to welcome their impending motherhood.
For musician Gwen Stefani and fellow rocker husband Gavin Rossdale, intimate privacy ruled their baby shower. In 2006, they a privately held shower in a friends‘house located in Hancock Park Mansion for their son Kingston James McGregor Rossdale.
This was a typical couple’s baby shower attended by famous friends like Christina Applegate, David Arquette, Tony Kanal and ex-boyfriend from No Doubt and Shirley Manos of Garbage. The lamb theme was inspired by Ms. Stefani’s very own L.A.M.B. clothing line.
Party favors included brownies which were interestingly raspberry flavored and dipped in bitter chocolate. It was in the shape of two G’s facing each other to form a G-heart, the very logo of L.A.M.B. These were placed in a box covered with chocolate linen tied off with a white ribbonnette, fresh flowers and sage.
Two years later, in 2008, they again celebrated their second child’s ultra private shower party. The affair was studded with stars, friends and family like David Arquette, again Tony Kanal and members from her band, No Doubt.
For former child actress, the beautiful and statuesque Brooke Shields also her baby shower which was held in the apartment she shares with hubby Chris Henchy. Unfortunately, it was a bittersweet affair as this was the day right after the death of Ms. Shield’s party.
However, Liz Lange hosted another party for Rowan, this time sponsored by Target. Eighty or so guests arrived to attend the fashion show themed baby shower. There was a streamer that yelled “It’s a Girl!” with the logo of Target for the ‘I”. The letters were written using carnations which were freshly picked from a friend’s garden in her Malibu estate.
Fellow actor Steven Webber and wife Juliette Hohnen hosted the second baby shower with a Moroccan them in their Los Angeles home in honor of the second child the couple was expecting. This was a smaller affair attended by 35 close friends including Ben Stiller and his wife. There were mint martinis, beef skewers and couscous served keeping up with the Moroccan theme,
Jo Gartin organized the shower who said that the mother to be was “simply glowing with happiness.” Unlike the IVF treatments Ms. Shields had to get when she was carrying her firstborn, Rowan, the mommy to be is now more prepared and ready to face the music, so to speak.
For this baby shower, the Moroccan theme was strongly depicted with pillar candles, lamps of antic Arabian design, and the floor was littered with hundreds of thousands of rose petals which lent its rosy scent throughout the whole home.
Rowan inquired if the baby was going to “live in my house” where the mother laughed and revealed that the elder girl was happy to decorate the nursery with her own style and drawings.
