It’s very easy to make favors from baby bottles and these are extremely cute, too. What’s nice is you can use baby bottles of all kinds, from the plastic drinking bottles to even recycled baby food bottles to hold all sorts of goodies that you can give away to your guests. And what you put inside them is limited only by your imagination.
What goes inside these bottles? Candies of all sorts can go in these baby bottles. Apart from the usual jelly beans in assorted colors, gumdrops, lemon drops, and other jelly candies can be used instead. Why not mix different candies in coordinating colors for a truly different effect?
Fun effects happen when Nerds, tiny colored meringues, Skittles, M&M’s, rock sugar candies or barley candy sticks or balls are used as fillers. Or do the unexpected and fill up the bottles with tiny cookies instead. Any unwrapped sweet treat in individualized sizes can fill up these unexpected candy jars.
If sweets aren’t your type of thing, then you can give out savory snacks like goldfish crackers, mini Ritz crackers, or flavored bagel chips would be great. Why not try popcorn tossed with Parmesan cheese and chili powder?
Or, make sand painting creations using these baby food bottles. You can use just about anything that can become a mix for any sort of food. Beans make wonderful layers of color and will create wonderful paintings. Why not layer red and yellow lentils, black beans, black-eyed peas, red beans, white beans, garbanzos, and barley for a hearty bean soup base? Throw in a cheesecloth bag of dried herbs and a bouillon cube to finish it off. All you need to attach is a recipe card for the meal.
Why not make a body scrub mix to fill up that baby bottle? A basic mix of half sea salt and half sugar can be blended with dried citrus peels, dried rose petals, or lavender heads. Add a boost of skin softeners by adding a tablespoon or so of baking soda to the mix. Pair the salt scrub with a small bottle of extra-virgin olive oil, virgin coconut oil, or safflower oil to be mixed in just before using.
Why not fill them with colored sugar crystals? It’s great for tea or for sprinkling on cookies.
Flavored salts can be created with dried citrus peels, dried herbs, and savory spices. Or, try your hand at creating a salt-free herb and spice seasoning. There are quite a few recipes out on the web and you can have something as regular as house spice or extravagant as Herbes de Provence or as exotic as a chili-lemongrass-ginger blend.
These bottle favors can be simply decorated just using fabric or paper squares that have had their edges decoratively cut. Placed on the jars and held in place with a transparent ponytail holder, these are simply completed with a sumptuous ribbon bow and maybe a sprig of herbs and dried flowers.
The plastic baby bottles are easily decorated with a perfect bow. Tie on gift tags and tack on embellishments that will complement the favors. These could be arranged in a wooden crate that grapes come in. Line the crate with a nubby linen cloth, a baby quilt, or even large fresh leaves.
