Anyone who is invited to a party will automatically think that they are going to have to face the same boring catered foods. When planning a baby shower, think about what foods to serve and what games to play to make it a memorable time for both the expectant parents and the guests as well.
Planning a party involves a lot of careful thinking on what food to serve for a specific group of friends who are celebrating the entry of a new individual. Why not plan a baby shower with the food and the games as the central theme?
Men invited to baby showers will be wowed when they see the tasty and scrumptious foods on the buffet table. That alone will make them think twice about dismissing this party! When planning the food theme, try to gather together what the favorites are of the mommy; make sure that 90% if the foods are her favorites and which she could eat, the exceptions are the beers and the wines of course.
Plan out foods that are easy to handle, that would not be too messy to clean up after, and that are light on the stomach if the party is in the afternoon. Think canapés and finger foods. If the mommy likes Mexican, there is always the possibility of making finger tortillas and bite sized fajitas. If the she likes the salsas, then just make sure that there are a lot of baby wipes which the guests could easily use to wipe off the fun mess. Baby wipes keep to the shower theme too as this is one essential for babies that can never be lived without, plus, it wipes the mess clean.
Like all baby showers, a party with no games can be a drag. Think up fun and games that both the men and women can partake in. Some guests might attempt to run away so make sure that they are clear once the party starts that the first to run will be the first to play the games. This way, they will just have to learn to douse their fears and join.
Again, make sure the expectants are aware of what games are to be planned out. They are the ones who really know who their friends are and what may scare them. Having fun with friends will be a time to reveal their game secrets that could be the focus of the whole affair. Just make sure that the guests don’t die from embarrassment!
The food itself can be the focus of the game. Make the men compete for the best servings or the best cuts. How about making them guess as to which brew is which and if they lose, hold out the brew till they win one game. That way, they will be joining the fun just to get a sample of the favorite. How about making them guess the food they are eating as well? Plug the nostrils and blindfold them. Make their senses work against them by blocking the senses of sight and smell. Try out their knowledge on food and see if they could guess right when tasting with no senses. That guest who wins will get an extra price for the efforts.
Then there is that traditional eating of the apple game. Deck the male and female partners with disposable shower curtains, and make them eat off an apple between them with their hands tied to their backs. The winning couple must have successfully eaten the whole apple without dropping it to the floor. How they will succeed is up to them, just don’t use the hands!
