Mom knows best… Or does she really? Authorities are starting to doubt that moms really have an idea about what is best for their little ones. The unbelievable story of Maryanne Godboldo is the absolutely shocking evidence of this claim.
Godboldo was threatened that her daughter will be taken away unless the mom consented to a medical therapy that experts came up with and that the mom refused to accept because of the harmful side effects.
Most moms are no medical experts, this is easy to tell. But a parent is the one person that is able to determine if a medical treatment is working or if it is solely causing more damage. Once Godboldo say that her little girl is far from getting better, she decided to take some alternative action. This decision led to the deterioration of her relationship with authorities.
The Detroit mom believes her daughter started feeling bad after being administered several immunizations in order to start going to school. Previously, the girl had been home-schooled and immunization is one of the prerequisites for joining a regular middle school.
Godboldo consulted officials at The Children’s Center, who helped her come up with the immunization plan.
When she found at that medications were doing her daughter no benefit, Godboldo decided to discontinue any further medical intervention. This is when authorities stepped in, threatening to take the child away from the mother.
What happened next was a Hollywood-style action movie. A police report states that Godboldo refused letting police officers and social workers into her home. She even utilized a firearm and allegedly produced a shot after police arrived.
Negotiations followed. After hours of drama, Godboldo surrender to police.
This story received tremendous media attention and for a reason. Godboldo’s desire to keep her child safe from harm resulted in police involvement and a threat. The mom was made believe that her child will be taken away as a result of her actions.
This story leads to several unbelievable conclusions. Parents seem to no longer have the power to decide what is best for their children. Though child care institutions exist for a right purpose, they occasionally take their role a step too far.
Every reasonable parent will be unwilling to willingly accept heavy medication for a kid, especially if the medicine is connected to adverse side effects.
Professionals certainly have a right to express their opinion but parents need at least two options when it comes to the future of their children and to medical treatments. Parents are the ones who should have the final say and rather than being treated as criminals, their right to make choices needs to be respected.
How soon will it be before institutions take over the role of parents, taking crucial decisions and threatening moms and dads that their children will be taken away in the instance of non-compliance?
