Everyone loves that classic novel Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, the first movie was a big hit, the second was a block buster. Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp played the Willy Wonka played them differently and yet they are the same. The song, Pure Imagination, is one of the most memorable and touching songs ever written, and imagination is put to the test when expecting a baby.
Celebrate a Willy Wonka baby shower; send candy invitations with the details of the party attached to it. Make sure to inform guests that this is sweet ladened party that will set some imagination rolling.
Candies, edibles. These are the decorations that will set the imaginary light to the place where you celebrate. Candy canes, edible sugar tea cups and flowers, chocolates truffles, candy mushrooms, blueberry flavored dolls… these can be preordered online days ahead of the party. Simply place the decorations on wall, plates, and tables, anywhere where guests can simply just grab one and take a bite.
There are also some edible plates and candy centerpieces too which can also be ordered online. There is no room for paper flowers here, so the flowers should also be edible. These can be found in bakeries. Just get some prepared gum paste flowers and arrange them in baskets for smaller tables. Cover the tables with white, red, yellow and green.
The buffet table can have chocolate fondue and fountain on them instead of a large floral centerpiece. Place firefly lights over the table and set them to automatically go off and on. Set some fresh fruits and wooden picks for picking and dipping in the fondue and fountain. Chocolate dolls, edible flowers and glitter ribbons should complete the effect.
Serve some non-candy foods too. To combat the sweet effects, serve some light canapés, hors d’oeurves and Teevee sandwiches. You could also serve some fries, chips, Buckets of fried chicken, fresh green salad served in a Golden Egg. Beverages should be light fruit juices, iced teas, soft drinks, sodas.
Enjoy some games based on the movie as well: Violet’s bubble gum chewing and blowing contest, the biggest bubbles win a Mike Teevee computer game contest between the men, and Bucket’s best building blocks creations. For prizes, surprise guests with edible toys!
Talk to the guests beforehand and make a group gift for the expectant mother – a giant towel cake and giant layette Teddy bear. These should supply the baby with all the essentials in its first month or two of life. Make the bear hold a wreath of washcloth rosettes, and the bear suck on a pacifier as well.
Send off the guests with party favors that keep the spirit of the Willy Wonka baby shower. No, not more candies just lip balm, lotion and shampoo in small containers – all candy flavored, sorry! Anyway, the guests would love them, and they will find use for them.
