A baby along the way is a cause for celebration. And who says that pregnant women can’t dance? Well, probably not the Tango or even a Rhumba, but they could definitely sway to the beat of the rhythm of favored music.
Ask the couple what they enjoy most to dance together with. It would be quite surprising is the couple is a well known dancing couple compared to all the friends in their group. So why not throw a party where there could be dance lessons as well?
Issue invitation to friends and make them know that this is a dance party that they cannot ignore. If the whole group loves party music, why just ask them to come in their club dancing attire and to bring gifts for the baby and the new momma.
Choose music that is enjoyed by all: try the mixes by Blank and Jones, Chicane, Alex M.o.r.p.h., DJ Antoine, and many more. There are so many club mixes and house music that are available online on iTunes or ready to play CDs. If the budget allows, hire a DJ, otherwise, rely on the club and house music mixes that are commercially available.
Decorate the venue with firefly lights, red, yellow and green lights that go on and off, probably a disco ball in the middle of the ceiling and just turn down all other lights. Hey, you can even do this in a friend’s den, just make sure that all breakables are taken away, but leave the lounging chairs and sofas; people can take their rest in between dancing.
Set up the buffet with drinks and party snacks, this is no time for good homemade meals usually associated with other parties. Simply put the food on the table that the guests can just pick up and eat as they dance. On one end of the table set up the drinks bar and ask a friend or two to be the bar tenders of the night. If no one else can do it, just hire a willing bartender.
Serve dance party foods like fruit punch, finger foods like empanadas, mini fajitas, mini pizza, pretzels, nuts and dried fruits. Buffalo wings would be great for this night too.
It is very important to designate some friends not to drink during the party. As designated drivers they should be each assigned a friend to take home in their cars. If there is enough room in the house where the party is going to be celebrated, prepare one or two guest rooms where some over indulged friends can stay overnight safe and sound.
This type of party does not have room for gift opening although it can be incorporated into the fun. Otherwise, simply place a gift table off to one side of the room where the guests can simply leave their gifts and start dancing as soon as they come.
Ask the dance instructors to give a few lessons and dance with the guests or even perform a dance or two so everyone can just jealously look on and wish.
This is a fun night, so send out the friends with a nice CD copy of the house and party music that was used.
