Finding the Best Baby Shower Locations

August 2nd, 2010

Deciding on where you will hold a baby shower is one of the first things that you should consider while still in the planning phase. Once you set the date, the next thing will be securing for a location. Ideally, baby showers are normally held at the host or mom-to-be’s home. Whichever place you decide to hold yours, the location should be an easy place to get to and most importantly should be able to provide accommodation for all the people that you have invited to the shower party.

When preparing the invitation cards, ensure that you keep count of the people that you have invited. It will be necessary to know the number of people who will be attending the baby shower. Also, if you are holding it on the mom-to-be’s behalf, make sure you check and consult as to what her guest list looks like. This will give you an idea of the number to work with and thus looking for a location should not be a hassle since you already know the number of people to plan for.

If you will not be expecting so many people, it would be advisable to hold the baby shower at the hostess’s home. It provides for an intimate wonderful setting. In the case of a large baby shower, restaurants, church dining halls, and hotel halls would be appropriate places to hold the celebration. You may want to find out if they will allow you to do your own catering, how much the parking is, and what arrangements one needs to make there before actually getting a space there. Also, if you decide to order from the restaurant, you can find out if they can give you a quantity discount since you will be having a large number of people at their restaurant. You can make an indication that there will be free drinks or deserts for everyone on the invitation cards if the baby shower will be taking place in a hotel or restaurant. This is a polite way of indicating that the guests will not need to foot any bills just because the baby shower is taking place in a restaurant.

Finding a perfect location should not hassle you much if you still haven’t made up your mind on where you will throw the baby shower. You can ask for ideas from other new moms on where they had their baby showers. Find out from them whether the places were convenient for them as well. You will be able to get some very good ideas from them so don’t hold yourself back and suffer alone trying to make this party happen. As much as you might have singled out a place where you intend to throw your baby shower at, ensure you call and check for availability on the particular date that you have set the baby shower. Make sure to do that before you send out the invitation cards which should be done somewhere between 4-6 weeks before the baby shower date. It allows the guest to have enough time to respond and confirm their attendance as well as shopping for gifts.
