Practical gifts are always welcome in any baby shower party. This is actually the purpose of the baby shower, to help the mother and father-to-be prepare for the arrival of the baby. The preparation of all the needs for the baby is numerous and could be costly. Friends who host a baby shower party need to remind invited guests to limit their gifts for things that the baby would use once it is born.
Washcloths are one of those practical gifts which will be handy to keep the baby neat and clean. They are the untidiest bits of humanity as they would not know how to wipe their mouth and hands. A washcloth would be the best thing to give, not in a box, but disguised as something else entirely.
Don’t use boxes, make a washcloth Boo Boo bunny instead and make the parents-to-be laugh at the sheer delight of receiving such a cute bunny gift. This so much better than giving a stuffed bunny toy that the baby won’t appreciate until he or she is old enough.
Boo boo bunnies will be needed by the child once he or she starts getting into the middle of things. The comfort of the ice or cold temperature and the bunny design will erase tears like nothing else can.
It is really quite simple, making a Boo Boo bunny out of washcloths. The materials needed are: good quality and pastel colored thick washcloths, rubber bands, sating ribbons, yarn and large hole needle.
Open the washcloth flat on the table, grab hold of one corner, and roll it over to the middle, do the same to the opposing corner. You would have now a washcloth that resembles two rolled pieces side by side.
Fold in half, center seam inside. The corners are the ears, the folded part the body of the bunny. Fold over again; manipulate the ears so they are an inch away from each other. There should now be a U created by the dual parts. Make a neck by securing with rubber bands in the area where the ears are.
Fluff out the ears, make a ‘bum’ at the round end of the body of the boo boo bunny. Thread yarn into the big hole needle and using satin stitch, make the eyes and mouth. Change yarn for a pink ribbon (1/4 inch wide) and whipped stem stitch the mouth. Tie a wide ribbon into a bow around the boo boo bunny neck; attach a pacifier on the body as a finishing touch.
Soak the boo boo bunny in water, drip dry and then place in freezer. This way, if there is a boo boo, then the bunny can just come out help out the emergency. The bum can also be used to place some ice into it, but this can get quite wet and make a mess. Freezing it is better.
